Biography
A life dedicated to public service — from humble beginnings to the halls of Congress.
Born and Raised in Negros Oriental
Born on March 15, 1978, in Dumaguete City, Janice Villanueva Degamo grew up with a deep appreciation for public service, instilled by her parents who were both dedicated educators.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
Graduated cum laude from Silliman University with a degree in Business Administration, major in Public Administration.
Juris Doctor
Earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law. Passed the Philippine Bar Examination in the same year.
Private Legal Practice
Practiced law focusing on public interest litigation, handling cases involving farmers, fisherfolk, and marginalized communities across Negros Oriental.
Provincial Legal Officer
Served as Provincial Legal Officer of Negros Oriental, where she championed good governance, transparency, and legal reforms in local government operations.
Board Member, Provincial Board of Negros Oriental
Elected as Provincial Board Member, chairing the committees on Education, Health, and Social Services. Authored landmark provincial ordinances on scholarship programs and health services.
Vice Governor of Negros Oriental
Served two consecutive terms as Vice Governor. Spearheaded the province's COVID-19 response, education continuity program, and economic recovery initiatives.
Representative, 3rd District of Negros Oriental
Elected as Representative of the 3rd District. Has authored and co-authored numerous bills on education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and social services. Known for her hands-on approach to legislication and constituent service.
